Keto chaffles are super trendy right now, so if you’re on the keto diet, then I’m sure you’ve heard about them. Chaffles are low-carb, keto-friendly, sugar-free and perfect for just about anyone looking to reduce their carb intake—but feel like they’re still indulging. Eating a chaffle feels like cheating on your diet…only you’re not.
Plus ,there are many different variations to the traditional chaffle recipe that are trending on social media—especially on TikTok. And if you’ve tried Quick Peanut Butter, Carrot Bacon or the ever-popular One-Pan Egg Flip Trick, then we’re here to tell you: You have to give chaffles a try next.
What is a Chaffle?
Cheese + waffles = chaffles. A chaffle is a waffle made with just cheese and eggs. Basic chaffles do not have any flour, baking powder, or any other ingredients in the recipe and they’re the newest bread replacement that you can make at home.
The hardest thing about living a low-carb life is living without bread, at least for my husband and myself! Bread is used for everything, and it seems to make everything better. This causes a bit of a problem if you are trying to avoid carbs, because bread is full of carbs. But here is the solution—you can make a chaffle and use that as your bread for any kind of sandwich. Now you can enjoy all of your favorite bready foods like sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, and whatever else you can think of.
How to Make a Chaffle
To make a chaffle, all you need are the aforementioned ingredients and then a griddle or waffle maker. It’s super simple to make them with a waffle iron, or mini waffle iron, but they can easily be made on a grill if you don’t own an iron. The mixture of egg and cheese makes them perfect fluffy (and tasty) waffles that have a slightly crunchy and cheesy exterior.
Can Chaffles be Frozen?
Yes, you can freeze chaffles. Simply place them in a freezer bag with a piece of parchment paper between each one, or just freeze them in small freezer bags, with two chaffles per bag.
